Bad idea to go big for first tattoo?

I’m really REALLY keen to get a tattoo. I want to get the Mansion from Coraline on my outer calf pretty much from ankle up to below the kneeThe artist I’m interested in does a lot of blackwork(@jbarrtattoo) His work is fucking sick.But I’m worried I’m being too ambitious with the size as it’s my first tattoo. I know it’s gonna hurt but will it hurt to the point I’ll be fucking up his linework? (Mansions having ALOT of horizontal + vertical lines)Should I start with something else smaller?
